Detailed Operative Buffs Revealed

THE TIME OF THE AGENT IS UPON US
Guess work can be fun, we all know that. We can let our imaginations run wild and ultimately be let down and scream and yell at BW because they rained on our parade. But you know what's MORE fun? Being given the details of the buffs so people don't complain after they've set up their own standard of what a good buff would be! :)

With that said, on January 8th, Musco enlightened the world of Operatives by giving us said specifics! Huzzah! Without further ado, let us go ahead and take a look at them! As always, for the original post, click here.

Hey everyone!

Although you will see the 2.6 patch notes fairly soon™, I wanted to show you guys the changes we have made for Concealment Ops and talk a bit about why you didn't see survivability changes yet. First the 2.6 changes!

• Surgical Strikes now increases the damage dealt by Shiv, Overload Shot, and Backstab by 5% (up from 4%).
• Collateral Strike now has a 50/100% chance to trigger when Laceration is used (up from 35/70%).
• Culling now increases the damage dealt by Laceration and Collateral Strike by 3/6% (up from 2/4%) and recovers 4/8 energy whenever Collateral Strike damages an enemy target (down from 5/10).
• Waylay now increases the damage dealt by Backstab by 5% (up from 4%).
• Meticulously Kept Blades now additionally increases the critical damage dealt by Laceration by 10/20/30%, but no longer increases the critical damage dealt by Sever Tendon.
• Calculated Frenzy no longer increases Alacrity when triggered, but now increases ranged and tech critical chance by 2/4/6% instead.

As you can see, there is quite a bit happening to increase Concealment damage in 2.6. Now, I know one of the things that came out of the brainstorming threads and the Class Reps was that you need survivability. I want to tell you that we don't disagree with that sentiment at all! The issue that stands currently is that most of the survivability of the Operative is tied into the base class. That means that if we increase Concealment survivability, we are also going to increase how hard it is to kill a Medicine Operative. That isn't ideal.

We are still exploring options but it will take a bit of time as we tackle increasing the DPS specs survivability without doing the same for Medicine.

Hope that makes sense!

As we can see, the changes are pretty clear. They aren't as vague as some tend to be (like the Overload Shot buff which had NO specifics on it at all). So instead, let's look at how else these changes affect us that were NOT mentioned above.

• Collateral Strike now has a 50/100% chance to trigger when Laceration is used (up from 35/70%).
This right here is a VERY big deal. Why? For the following reason:

100% Collateral Strike Chance = 8 regen every successfull CS & Free TA every 10 secs.

This is AMAZING. I'm no mathematician, but having a constant 8 energy regen due to CS procs, which are now 100% successful everytime you Lacerate, is simply fantastic. Will this be enough to solve our longevity issues in PVE boss fights and make our sustainability of DPS viable? Quite possible. But it SURE doesn't mean we will get to smash face 100% of the time. Which, honestly, is good for a couple reasons:

A) keeping ourselves alive by not pulling off tanks 24/7 and
B) Not having to hear other classes in PVP cry, complain and moan for being stabbed to death in the blink of an eye. Though that would be lovely. Just lovely :)

So, clearly, I'm excited for this change! It cannot come soon enough. Get ready my fellow Agents of the Empire. Our time to shine once again nears! And what a glorious day it shall be for the EMPIRE!
